Rail Industry Specialist, Inc. was contracted by Nebraska Central Railroad Company regarding twenty (20) of their Automated “Air Powered” Ballast Cars expiring in age.

RIS through previous Increased Life Status (ILS) Program experience was able methodically go through all the correct channels with the FRA/AAR in order to successfully modernize & repair all 20 Ballast Cars up to the safety standards and regulations of Rule 88.

Now, rather than scrapping their fleet of 20 Ballast Cars, our customer was able to retain their entire fleet of cars for an additional 5 + 5 + 5 years.

Investing in one new Ballast Car can range upwards of $200,000.00. To invest in their fleet to achieve more years of interchangeable cars is a great benefit for Nebraska Central Railroad Company.
